Physics Teacher

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy is a Catholic, Dominican, independent, college-preparatory, day and boarding high school whose mission is to educate young women for a life of faith, integrity and truth. We are seeking a Physics teacher to teach algebra-based, conceptual physics courses possibly combined with chemistry, math, or computer science for the 2019-2020 academic year. The philosophy of the science department is to engage young women in the discovery process, to create citizen scientists and to prepare those students who will continue in STEM careers with the necessary critical thinking and laboratory skills. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related major is required as is applicable experience. We are looking for a teacher who will participate in the school community outside the classroom, to support the mission of the school, and to collaborate with colleagues in interdisciplinary research based assignments. As part of an integrated and dynamic faculty, all teachers are involved in co-curricular programs and should share in a commitment to a holistic approach to educating young women.

● be a reflective educator who models intellectual curiosity.

● actively participate in the school’s culture of inquiry and seek out opportunities for professional development to enhance content knowledge and pedagogical skill.

● possess a BS in Physics or other relevant area. A Master’s degree in Physics or other related area; 3-5 years high school teaching experience is preferred but not required.
